Blogging 101: I’m Just Not There (Yet)

I was so encouraged to read Diane’s blog about the big day.  What a breath of fresh air to read how she is feeling about increasing her physical activity and being more mindful of what she eats.

I, however, am not quite there (yet.)  Although I did write down some physical goals this year, I’ve managed to put off the “limited sweets” diet plan a few more weeks.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m wearing my new Fitbit and targeting the 10,000 steps per day, but I fully recognize that my mindset is not ready to make too many activity and diet changes.  I’m thinking perhaps after Valentine’s Day….

So thank you Diane for sharing from your heart.  You’ll be much lighter by the time I’m ready to eliminate sweets and return to the gym.  For all my blogger friends, whatever your physical goals are this year (month, day or hour), keep striving and give it your best shot!  Everything is more fun when you’re feeling good and our bodies function much better with some movement.  Oh…and as I’ve been gently reminded lately, my “age group” requires 8 hours of sleep to lose weight.  So off I go for the night – have a blessed, purposeful, step-filled day!

Blogging 101: All in the Name

When it came time to name my blog, I pondered several different ideas.  What am I passionate about?  What makes me tick?  What would not be easily misconstrued?  (I quickly learned that using a phrase I sign cards with often “In His Love Always” would not be a good website title!)   Even the name of a paper I wrote in my adolescence, “Paper Dreams” was already taken.

For as long as I can remember, I have had a bit of an obsession with the sky.  Clouds and sunsets.  As a child, hours were spent looking up noticing designs and patterns.  There was that cloud science project that never quite came together.   Multiple rolls of sunset pictures were taken and developed (yes, remember film cameras?)  I found a photo album from high school and I was not surprised to find several pages of sunset pictures.  I am (still) one of those drivers you secretly curse when you see me taking pictures of the sky while driving.

Needless to say, I was very excited to find that the name “cloudsandsunsets” was available.  Hurrah!  And as I was completing my profile, I studied the name carefully and found an interesting twist:

I suddenly liked it that much more:  the name included a solid reference to my beloved beach.  Both options make sense and truly represent things I’m fond of.

How often do we view something and only see it one way?  Like those crazy drawings (do you see the old lady or the young lady in the hat?)  Sometimes we find the alternate view on our own, and other times it only becomes apparent once someone points it out to us.  Be open to different interpretations.  Ask God to allow you to see people, places and things through His eyes.  I suspect you won’t be disappointed.

Blogging 101: Who I am and why I’m here

Hello & welcome to my blog!

I love to write and this has been a dream of mine for years.  The encouragement of a few friends and the perfect timing of this Blogging 101 course has inspired me to make the time to share what God is doing in and through my life.

I turned 50 in 2014 and it was a fantastic year.  This year my husband and I are embarking on a new adventure.  Our youngest of four children (his, hers & ours) will graduate high school in May.  Since our primary jobs allow us to work from home, we will no longer be tied to a physical location for either work or school.  We live in Ohio now and are tired of the cold winters.  First stop on our journey:  California (to be closer to my family)

I want to stay close to all my dear friends and this blog will be just one way I can take them along with me!  I hope others will join as well.  I will be honest, sincere, and share deep from within as I strive to be truly intentional with my time, talents and thoughts.

Buckle your seat belt – we’re in for an amazing ride!
